Scott Dorsey
CEO, ExactTarget

Scott is responsible for the global leadership of ExactTarget. Scott and his fellow co-founders Chris Baggott and Peter McCormick launched ExactTarget in December 2000 to help organizations use the then-emerging medium of email to connect with their customers and drive business results. Today, the company has grown to over 1,000 employees and powers cross-channel interactive marketing campaigns across email, mobile, social media, and the web for organizations around the world. Dorsey has led ExactTarget to become the largest privately held interactive marketing technology firm with operations across the U.S., Europe, South America, and Australia.
Scott has received numerous awards for his business and civic leadership, including Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year, Stevie Award/American Business Awards 2011 Executive of the Year, TechPoint Trailblazer in Technology, BtoB Magazine's Who's Who List, MS Society Hope Award, Indianapolis Business Journal's "Forty Under 40", and Junior Achievement KPMG's "Best and Brightest" awards. Scott serves on the board of directors of TechPoint, Indiana Sports Corporation, and the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership and is a member of the Dean's Advisory Council for the School of Informatics at Indiana University. Scott also chairs the Marketing and Communications Division for the Indianapolis Super Bowl 2012 Host Committee. Scott earned his undergraduate Marketing degree from Indiana University and MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
Timothy I. Maudlin

Timothy I. Maudlin is the Lead Director on ExactTarget’s Board of Directors. He’s also served as Lead Independent Director on the Board of Directors for Web.com since 2007, having previously served as a director since February 2002. Timothy is also a director of Newegg, Inc., the second-largest online-only retailer in the United States. He’s the Chairperson of its Audit and Governance Committees and a member of its Compensation Committee. Timothy served as a managing partner of Medical Innovation Partners, a venture capital firm from 1989 through 2007 and President of its management company since 1985. Additionally, he’s a director of Sucampo Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a NASDAQ listed pharmaceutical company since September 2006, and is currently the chairman of its Audit Committee and its Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee, and a member of the Compensation Committee.
Timothy is a certified public accountant and holds a B.A. degree from St. Olaf College and a Masters in Management degree from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
David Yuan

David Yuan focuses on software, internet, and information services and joined TCV in 2005. Prior to joining TCV, David was with JPMorgan Partners, a global private equity firm. Prior to JPMorgan Partners, David was an early employee and director of business development at 1stUp which was sold successfully to CMGi, and a management consultant in the San Francisco office of Bain & Company.
David currently serves on the boards of ExactTarget and Merkle and is involved in the firm’s investments in Facebook, OSIsoft, and Splunk. His prior investments include Global360 (acquired by Opentext), Oak Pacific Interactive (NASDAQ RENN), and Seismic Microtechnology (acquired by IHS). He received an AB in economics from Harvard University and an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Michael Brown

Since joining Battery Ventures in 1998, Michael has made or managed multiple investments in the areas of enterprise software, consumer and business-to-business Internet companies, and financial services technology. Michael currently serves on the boards of Bluestem Brands, Digby, ExactTarget, J. Hilburn, Istra Research, Panjiva, and TradeKing. In addition, he has been actively involved with Battery's investments in ChemConnect (acquired by InterContinental Exchange), The London International Financial Futures and Options Exchange (LIFFE) (acquired by Euronext), OutlookSoft Corporation (acquired by SAP), Serena & Lily, and Skullcandy (NASDAQ: SKUL).
From 1996 to 1998, Michael was a member of the High Technology Group at Goldman, Sachs & Co., where he worked on numerous debt and equity financings and merger and acquisition assignments. Previously, he was a Financial Analyst within Goldman's Financial Institutions Group between 1994 and 1996, where he focused on merger and acquisition assignments within asset management, insurance, specialty finance, and retail/mortgage banking. Michael graduated magna cum laude from Georgetown University with a dual BS in Finance and International Business.
Rory O'Driscoll

Rory has been an investor at Scale or its predecessor funds since 1993. He has invested across the board in software and internet companies, with a particular focus on software companies benefitting from the move to software as a service and the wider transition of enterprise computing to the cloud. Currently he sits on the boards of Arena Solutions, Axcient, Box.net, DocuSign, ExactTarget, Hubspan, Livescribe, Lumension Security, and Vantage Media.
Prior successful investments include IPOs such as Omniture (subsequently acquired by Adobe for $1.8 billion), Connect, and NetGenesis (subsequently acquired by SPSS). Acquisitions include ScanSafe (Acq: Cisco), Frontbridge (Acq: Microsoft), Zone Labs (Acq: Checkpoint), Placeware (Acq: Microsoft), and OuterBay (Acq: HP) among others. The automation of marketing in the internet era has been a theme of his investments from NetGenesis in the 1990s to Omniture in 2005 and Exact Target today. Rory holds a BSc from the London School of Economics. He is a winner of the “Always On VC 100 List” for 2009. Prior to Scale he was the CEO of a manufacturing company in the UK.
Scott Maxwell

Scott Maxwell has been a Director at ExactTarget since 2004. He founded and runs OpenView Venture Partners, a venture capital firm that offers significant strategic and operating assistance to its portfolio companies. Scott has worked to develop and communicate the vision that an institutionalized venture capital firm can—and should—offer meaningful operating and strategic assistance beyond the capital that it invests. He has spent over a decade iterating on that approach, which includes the development of OpenView’s investment focus and team, the OpenView Labs value add consulting team, and their content sites that offer ideas and inspiration for executives. Since OpenView’s inception, Scott has served on the board of directors or worked in some fashion with most of the OpenView portfolio companies.
Prior to becoming a Venture Capitalist in 2000, Scott spent the 1980s working in technology and the 1990s primarily working with financial services companies. Scott started his career as a research and development engineer designing robots at two California start-ups and went on to become a management consultant at McKinsey & Company, Senior Vice President and CFO of the Global Equity Division at Lehman Brothers, and a Partner at Putnam Investments, where he was Managing Director, Corporate Development, and was appointed to run Putnam’s alternative asset management program. Prior to founding OpenView Venture Partners, Scott was a senior Managing Director at Insight Venture Partners.
Scott graduated from M.I.T. with a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA from the M.I.T. Sloan School of Management. He also has a BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Davis.

He set into motion an evolution that has taken CareerBuilder beyond being the largest job board in the nation to a company that offers a wide range of data intelligence and consulting services, targeted advertising and outplacement support.
Matt was named to Crain’s Chicago Business “40 Under 40” and ranked in the top ten list of Glassdoor.com’s “Highest Rated CEOs.” He first joined the company following CareerBuilder's acquisition of Headhunter.net, where he had been serving as senior vice president of business development. Prior to that, Matt developed strategic partnerships for DigitalWork.com. He also started two entrepreneurial ventures, and practiced law at Baker & McKenzie. Matt holds a Master's in business administration from the University of Chicago and a law degree from Northwestern University.
